I had three trees pruned today by Bartlett Tree Experts of Sepham Farm. I have used them several times before over the years and this time the service was just as good as the previous times. Very professional company with good timely communications from the initial quote, getting the job done and right through to completion. They were recommended by a neighbour and did not let us down. We had a tricky access via a public car park and they dealt with all the access negotiations and made it really easy. They also fixed a fence which meant we only had to deal with one company. I'd tried several other so-called tree experts for a variety of tree-work on my two properties, one of which is in a heavily wooded area of Sussex, where you might think you'd find several reliable experts. But I'd had innumerable disappointments – until I tried Bartlett's. What I found then was that they are, indeed, tree experts but they're actually tree experts you can trust. They turned up on time to review the work, which they did thoroughly and clearly. Then they provided a quote which – by comparison with three others – was surprisingly reasonable at less than half the price of others. They even undertook the application to the local authority on my behalf. On the appointed day, they turned up again on time and got set up with friendliness, care and attention. Then they undertook the work, taking time out to answer all my questions and to explain their many on-the-job decisions and options. And they cleared up after themselves, too, without being asked! In short, I could not recommend them more highly and I'll certainly be using them again in due course.

I was concerned about signs of decline in a 35 foot conifer in my garden which was a little browned/scorched, and which I felt might pose a risk to adjoining property. Through examination closer than I had ever made before I became almost sure it was a goner and liable to drop at any time. Bartlett's came round (this was my first experience of their service) and immediately reassured me about the condition of the tree, explaining that it was a western red cedar somewhat affected by drought but fundamentally in robust health, and then returned to provide some watered in feed to give the tree a bit of a tonic. So the tree was refreshed and so was I because it was really great to have someone take a look and make a professional diagnosis, instead of saying the dreaded, "That wants falling that tree, mate, give us £xxxxx and we'll get it down safely for you, no worries. You know it makes sense, etc etc ". Great service.

I called Bartlett's in to review some recently planted trees which were showing signs of decline. Robert was very responsive and came to site quickly. After his initial visit, he organised a second with Glynn Percival for a thorough assessment, and that has given me some useful information with which to deal with the problem. I've instructed Bartlett's to carry out some remedial work so I'm not able to comment on their physical work, but I will add to this review when I can. Thus far, I've found the Bartlett's team to be responsive and proactive, thorough and transparent in their approach, and clearly very knowledgable. Speaking to other tree experts as part of my investigations into the problems, Bartlett / Glynn Percival can't really be beaten. When you're spending meaningful money on your garden, you need this expertise. Would highly recommend based on the service to date.
